Mechanisms of Development

ISSN: 0925-4773

Mechanisms of Development is the Official Journal of The International Society of Developmental Biologists which supports the world-wide community of developmental biologists.Mechanisms of Development is an international journal whose purpose is to communicate contemporary studies in developmental biology in any system, including animals, plants and other models. These studies can focus on embryogenesis and/or post-embryonic development of tissues and organs. In addition, MOD publishes studies in which in vitro approaches are used to study mechanisms relevant to developmental biology; for example cell culture assays to study stem cell properties or basic cell biological mechanisms. Areas of particular interest include:Regulation of stem cell and progenitor maintenance, cell differentiation, and pattern formation. The developmental control of cell proliferation and death, and of tissue growth and size.Mechanisms of cell and tissue morphogenesis, including migration, shape and polarity, and the roles of physical forces in development.Evolution of developmental mechanisms.Studies can focus on molecular and/or cellular mechanisms, and we also welcome studies using modelling approaches that are firmly rooted in experimental data. The Editors are strongly committed to fair, transparent and rapid review. The criteria for publication are: (1) That the study is novel, interesting, and advances understanding of a developmental mechanism(s); (2) That the conclusions of the study are supported by the data. We ask reviewers not to request further experiments unless these are essential to support the principal conclusions. Reviewers will provide constructive comments to enable any improvements required to make the work suitable for publication. We normally allow only one round of significant revision.Mechanisms of Development does not publish descriptive studies of gene expression patterns and molecular screens; for submission of such studies see Gene Expression Patterns

Fifty Key Anthropologists - Articles Related to the Life and Work of Some Influential Figures Medical Anthropology is dedicated to publishing papers that examine human behavior, social life and health in an anthropological context. The journal provides a global forum for inquiring into and elucidating the social and cultural, ideational, contextual, structural and institutional factors that pattern disease, shape experiences of illness and wellbeing, and inform the organization of and access to treatments. Our goal is to bring to our readership work that exemplifies and expands upon ways of understanding biological, cultural, political and economic dimensions of illness, medicine, health and healing. The journal publishes papers that reflect the diversity of contemporary scholarship in medical anthropology, and that demonstrate the theoretical sophistication, methodological soundness and ethnographic richness of the discipline. Through the publication of scholarly papers, and the editorials that accompany them, we encourage our authors, and our readers, to engage critically with the key debates of our time. Medical Anthropology invites papers on a wide range of topics, reflecting the diversity of the field and the expanding interests and concerns of researchers on matters affecting human health, wellbeing and illness. ISSN: 0745-5194eISSN: 1548-1387

Medical Anthropology Quarterly: International Journal for the Analysis of Health publishes research and theory in the field of medical anthropology. Medical Hypotheses

ISSN: 0306-9877eISSN: 1532-2777

Medical Hypotheses is a forum for ideas in medicine and related biomedical sciences. It will publish interesting and important theoretical papers that foster the diversity and debate upon which the scientific process thrives. The Aims and Scope of Medical Hypotheses are no different now from what was proposed by the founder of the journal, the late Dr David Horrobin. In his introduction to the first issue of the Journal, he asks 'what sorts of papers will be published in Medical Hypotheses? and goes on to answer 'Medical Hypotheses will publish papers which describe theories, ideas which have a great deal of observational support and some hypotheses where experimental support is yet fragmentary'. (Horrobin DF, 1975 Ideas in Biomedical Science: Reasons for the foundation of Medical Hypotheses. Medical Hypotheses Volume 1, Issue 1, January-February 1975, Pages 1-2.). Medical Hypotheses was therefore launched, and still exists today, to give novel, radical new ideas and speculations in medicine open-minded consideration, opening the field to radical hypotheses which would be rejected by most conventional journals. Papers in Medical Hypotheses take a standard scientific form in terms of style, structure and referencing. The journal therefore constitutes a bridge between cutting-edge theory and the mainstream of medical and scientific communication, which ideas must eventually enter if they are to be critiqued and tested against observations.Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editor and external reviewers to ensure their scientific merit. All reviewers will be fully aware of the Aims and Scope of the Journal and will be judging the premise, originality and plausibility of the hypotheses submitted.Abstracting/indexing:Medical Hypotheses is indexed and abstracted in: ADONIS, BIOSIS, Chemical Abstracts, Elsevier BIOBASE/Current Contents/Life Sciences, EMBASE Excerpta Medica, Index Medicus, Medical Documentation Service, Reference Update, Research Alert, Science Citation Index, SciSearch UMI (Microfilm), Russian Academy of Science.
